Janet O'Connor Celebrant

Heartfelt farewells filled with compassion

If you are here because there has been a death in your family or friendship circle please accept my heartfelt condolences. There is much to organise and it can feel overwhelming. As a humanist funeral celebrant I am here to help you through this experience, If your special person wanted something other than a traditional church funeral service, you can arrange for them to have the most loving farewell ceremony that is filled with personal memories, favourite poems, readings and music.

Funerals, while undoubtedly a time of grief, can also be an opportunity to honour and celebrate the lives of those who have left us. I approach these sombre occasions with empathy and compassion, providing solace and comfort to grieving families. By weaving personal stories, shared memories, and tasteful humour, I strive to create a heartfelt and meaningful ceremony that respectfully celebrates the beautiful chapters and memories that were created during a person's life.

Understanding the Funeral Ceremony Process
In Ireland, one of the first steps after someone dies is to contact the Funeral Director to discuss the planning of funeral arrangements.

If you are not having a traditional church ceremony your Funeral Director will usually suggest a celebrant that they think will be a good fit. You can also ask for me by name.

It is also possible to contact me directly and I will liaise with your chosen Funeral Director.
I will call to introduce myself and arrange a suitable time to meet with you.
We will meet up so that you can share stories and memories of your loved one. I can help with reading, poem and music choices and go through the practical details and arrangements of the service.

With your input, I will write a draft of the eulogy and ceremony script and share this with you for any edits you would like, to make sure we have the wording exactly how you want it.
If you or other family members want to write/read the eulogy or other tributes we will weave this into the ceremony. You may also want to include some rituals or special features.
Final draft of the service will be prepared and sent to you for your sign-off.
On the day, I will arrive in plenty of time and make sure everything is in order to deliver your funeral/celebration of life ceremony.
